The University of Colorado and head coach Deion Sanders have captured the headlines the last two years but now Colorado State University (CSU) has brought its own Pro Football Hall of Famer to its campus just an hour away.
Denver Broncos alum Terrell (TD) Davis in August joined CSU’s “Presidential Executive in Residence” program which was started at the school earlier this year. The goal of the program is to engage professionals from a cross section of industries and disciplines in advisory roles and to provide direct connections for students and the broader campus community.
“Throughout Colorado, TD truly embodies what can be accomplished through excellence, grit, determination and giving back to the community,” says CSU President Amy Parsons. “Those same traits align with our values and mission here at CSU, which is why we’re excited to have TD join the Ramily and serve in a unique role that will inspire and engage the entire CSU community.”
Davis did not attend Colorado State but is a California native who played and graduated from the University of Georgia. He is a two-time Super Bowl champion who played with the Denver Broncos from 1995-2001. Since retiring from the league, Davis has been active as both a philanthropist and entrepreneur. He also is the founder and chief development officer of DEFY, a sports nutrition company.
“Colorado is my home now,” says Davis, who was the Super Bowl XXXII MVP, “and over the years I’ve been looking for the right opportunity to give back to this state that has given me so much. As I’ve come to understand the history and mission of CSU, I recognize a clear set of shared beliefs…this notion that you can change the world, improve your community, and make a difference when you combine talent, creativity hard work and determination. That resonates with me, and I’m honored to serve as CSU’s Athletic Rambassador.
“This just feels right. This a great opportunity to influence young people and put my time and energy in the future with a great academic institution and an athletics program that is really starting to blossom.”
We at NFL Alumni continue to root for our Super Bowl-winning brother Terrell Davis and wish him much success in this new role in his adopted state.
