Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas had three players selected during the recent 2024 Draft in Detroit.
That Nevada high school and the IMG Academy (Bradenton, FL) with three players each topped the other 230 schools that had at least one draftee last month. Bishop Gorman was the only school a year ago also to have a Draft-high three players picked.
The Bears current wide receiver Rome Odunze is a Bishop Gorman graduate.
“It’s great for my high school and great for the Las Vegas Valley as a whole to have three NFL draftees,” Odunze says. “We Gorman players will continue to represent Vegas well. If you are a college coach looking for some ballers, you know where to find them.”
Overall, 23 high schools had multiple players drafted by NFL teams.
The states with the highest number of high school graduates selected last month were: Florida (30 draftees); Texas (24); Georgia (23); California (18) and Louisiana and New Jersey (11 players each). Thirty-nine states and the District of Columbia each had at least one player drafted from one of its high schools.
“The Draft represents years of hard work and childhood dreams fulfilled,” says NFL alum and NFL Vice President of Football Development Roman Oben. “Two hundred and fifty-seven players were drafted representing 232 different high schools and many more young players were invited to sign as rookie free agents. It’s a credit to the players, their families, and their entire communities.”
These players have taken the first big NFL step by being drafted. Now they must impress their new coaching staffs in order to have an impact on our league. We at NFL Alumni are certain many of them will!
