NFL Alumni Appoints Ken Coffey as New Senior Vice President and COO

Mount Laurel, NJ-Jan. 19, 2024- Ken Coffey, a seasoned professional with over 30 years experience in the financial services industry, has been appointed as the Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the NFL Alumni Association. In this new role, Coffey will leverage his extensive background in sales, marketing, and team leadership to drive growth and create opportunities for the association.

“We are thrilled to welcome Ken Coffey to our team in the national office,” says Alumni CEO Brad Edwards. “His wealth of experience, coupled with his passion for football, will undoubtedly contribute to the association’s ongoing success. Ken’s appointment marks an exciting new chapter for the NFLA.”

Coffey is an NFL alumnus who was drafted by the Redskins in 1982 and played four seasons in Washington. He was a defensive back on both the Super Bowl XVII and XVIII teams. After retiring from the NFL, Ken went on to a highly successful business career serving as Senior Vice President of Sales for VALIC (ranked in the top 10 of all life insurance companies in the U.S. and Canada). He also served as Vice President for Independent Retirement Sales for Global Atlantic Financial ($158 Billion assets under management). Academically, Ken earned a BBA in Finance from Texas State University.

“NFL Alumni has made a great hire in Kenny Coffey,” says Green Bay Packers President Mark Murphy, who was a teammate of Coffey’s with the Redskins. “He has a perfect background for the position with his football and business experience. Former players will love working with him. Kenny was one of my favorite teammates with the Redskins. I knew he was destined for great things as a player and when his playing career ended.”

With a passion for football and the relationships he has fostered throughout his life, Coffey is eager to collaborate with the NFL Alumni’s chapters and corporate partners. His goal is to build a strong network of opportunities for the alumni.

“Ken is a true competitor,” says Pro Football Hall of Famer Darrell Green, who played with Coffey in Washington. “He is a born leader, analytical thinker, and compassionate human being. We are all very fortunate to have Ken back where he belongs serving on the NFL Alumni leadership team.”

Ken Coffey and his wife Brenda have three adult children. He begins his Alumni responsibilities this week.
