It has been a hectic few weeks for former Pro Bowl quarterback Michael Vick who today was named one of 17 NFL alumni included in the 2025 College Football Hall of Fame Class.
Vick, who was an All-America selection when he starred at Virginia Tech, was named head coach at Norfolk State on December 20. Since that time, he has been busy hiring his coaching staff and being on the road recruiting new players. It is the first head coaching assignment for Vick, who was the league’s overall first pick in the 2001 NFL Draft.
Michael Strahan, who already is in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, played his college ball at Texas Southern University in Houston. He becomes the first Texas Southern player inducted in the College Hall of Fame.
Conversely, Terry Hanratty becomes the 50th Notre Dame graduate in the Hall. He was a consensus First Team All-America quarterback for The Irish in 1968. Hanratty is the only player in this 2025 Class who played collegiately in the decade of the ‘60s.
All 17 NFL alums in the Class either were unanimous or consensus First Team All-America selections during their collegiate careers.
“We are thrilled to have these great players in the 2025 College Hall of Fame Class,” says NFL alum Archie Manning, the National Football Foundation Chairman. “Each of these legends ranks among the absolute best to have ever played the game. We look forward to adding their incredible accomplishments to those already permanently enshrined in our Hall of Fame.”
The complete 2025 Class is here. The new class increases the number of Hall of Fame players in the Hall to 1,111 or less than 0.02% of those who played collegiately in the last 155 years. There are 326 schools represented in this Hall of Fame which is located in Atlanta.
“Many of us were privileged to have some of these new Hall of Famers as either our NFL or college teammates,” says NFL Alumni CEO Brad Edwards. “They deserve the recognition they are receiving today. The honor will follow them for the rest of their lives. We look forward to congratulating them in person when they are formally inducted this December in Las Vegas.”
All of us at NFL Alumni congratulate these 17 men and their families for this distinguished achievement.
